New Calling

Sorry to interrupt the great vacation journaling, but I just got a new calling today. It was quite a surprise since we've only been in the ward for 5 months and 3 of those months I have been the Relief Society pianist so I wasn't expecting a change quite yet. Well, they called me to be the new Young Womens secretary and personal progress leader. I have to say I am very excited to work in Young Womens. I've always loved it and the girls are so fun to be with. If you guys have any motivational ways to get girls to do personal progress then pass them my way. I can use all the help I can get.

Hey, so I am going to give you my email address and you can email me over your email address. I will forward you on these excel spreadsheets that my mother-in-law made up when she used when she was in Young Womans, and she passes on to me when I was in there. I loved them. Anyways my email is kimmyhansen@gmail.com. Anyways email me with your address and I'll get them over to you. I love looking at your trip pics too. So fun!

Welcome to YW, I have been serving as Miamaid advisor for a year and a half now and am working on PP as well along with the grils, I think it is a good motivator for them to have thier leaders working on it too,

Man, that trip.... {sigh}
ANYWAY, I think that PP is a vicious dichotomy. I mean, they told us NOT to have a PP advisor (seems like they've stepped back from that as of late), and they really do lay it squarely on the backs of the parents to be the ones getting their daughters to do it. I think the main motivator is twofold: 1) Getting to know the girls, by the time I was in about a year I know what they were doing enough to know that they were passing-off "goals" without even knowing it... which is the 2nd motivator. Most of the girls ARE doing good stuff, you just have to point it out and get them to write it down. Many of our girls didn't do it, and they just didn't want to and I had to respect that decision as well.
