Internet, Internet, Where are you?
Ry's wireless on his laptop isn't working currently so I've had to do without the internet for the past week. I feel so out of the loop. Right now I'm at our apartment clubhouse using their internet. You only get 30 minute increments of time so it shuts off right in the middle of anything you're doing if your time is up. Boo! Hopefully Ry will get the Intel IT guys to fix it before I go crazy. I also hope we'll find out soon where we're going to move. I'll keep you all posted. Please call me instead of e-mailing me until I get connected again. Thanks.

new pic

This is my new little headshot that Hilary took for me last night when I played around at her house. The hubster and baby were at the stake play so I took the time to hang out. It was fun girl time for us. Hilary, your hair looks awesome by the way. I got to go see the stake play this afternoon and the youth did quite a good job. It was really a big production. I don't think that would ever fly in my stake back home since there aren't too many "thespians" in the Toledo stake, but hey, the stake out here looked like they had fun.

Thursday
I took Ethan to Maternal Connections at the hospital to do a "weigh-feed-weigh" on him to see how he's doing with my feedings. He's 14 lbs. 10 oz on his naked weigh which is great. After his little feed, I found he gets about 4 oz each feed. Not bad. I was little concerned about his eating stuff since he always seems so hungry and his bowel schedule seems to be a little spaced. I called the pedi today since he hadn't gone in a week and of course after I hang up the phone he decides to go. All I can say is that I was glad that I was home and I'm glad I had nurses training in that sort of department. My mom heard all about it and I think she's the only one that really cares to hear about it. Anyway...I don't think we'll be needing that medicine she called in for us. Ethan's still doing good with his need food regimine and he's now eating pears this week (due to his bowel issues). The pedi said eating the "P" fruits help stuff. We'll see how it goes.

A Day at the Redwoods

This is a cross-section of one of the trees that fell in 1934

My favorite

Ry and Eth standing in front of one of the Redwwods so you can truly see how massive these things are!

Our little guy in the country jail happy with dad
Ry's manager let him take half the day off since he's been working so hard so we decided to go see the Redwoods. We actually only live 45 minutes away, but we haven't gone to see them yet. It was a really nice day so we took a little road trip. The trees are crazy! I thought they would be big, but it's another thing to acutally see them in person. The forest was a little chilly since it's so shady and of course I left Eth's sweatshirt in our other car. He had to tough it out in Mom's sweater. Today was a really fun day.

Starting solids

Eth eating sweet potatoes (we have to feed him in his diaper since he likes to get it everywhere)

This is the little guy and his first time eating rice cereal. You can see that he wants to do it himself
Little Ethan got the go ahead from the pediatrician to start some solids so he can practice eating and be social with us during meal times. I started him last week on some rice cereal which he loves! Whenever I'm feeding him he slaps his legs and grunts when he wants more, it's so funny. This week we're doing sweet potatoes, another favorite. So I have a confession to make...I got this crazy idea to try to make my own baby food, just to experiment. I went to Safeway and got some sweet potatoes, apples, and pears to whip up for the little guy. I cooked up the fruits and veggies and pureed them in my little cuisinart and popped them into ice cube trays to freeze. Now I have a freezer full of baby food and the funny thing is...I really liked doing it. I'm not trying to be all "granola breath/organic" (no offense to the granola people) or even to be super healthy. I just get some kind of happiness in my kitchen making baby food. I have no idea why I got the crazy idea. You'd think a girl like me would like the convenience of opening a jar, go figure. I know I'm crazy, but Ry's just glad it makes me happy. I'll post some pictures later of Ethan and his food.

Old Prego Pictures

My good friend Tanya e-mailed me some old pictures of us from Halloween when we were pregnant. I never let Ry take pictures of me during my pregnancy so I haven't been able to really see how big I got. Well, I took a look at these and I can't believe how HUGE I was! Oh my gosh! Ethan was almost 9 lbs though so I have that going for me.
Ethan's girlfriend

So we have some friends in our ward that have a little girl that was born 2 weeks after Ethan. We went over to their place for pizza and to share our Australia pictures. Their family is actually going there next month to visit her family in Brisbane so they wanted to check all the fun things to look forward to. Anyway...Ethan and Emily had a great time together as you can tell from the pictures and even their dad's had fun too. Everyone in our ward thinks that they look alike and we call them "brothers from another mother".

Australia trip

Ry, Eth, and I left Feb. 8th for our big trip to Sydney, Australia. We were able to stay about 2 1/2 weeks so Eth could meet his Grandma and Papa. I just have to say...I LOVE AUSTRALIA! I would move there in a heartbeat! The weather was warm and sunny, the beaches were beautiful, and the food was delicious! What more could a girl ask for? Ry's parents took us to soooo many fun things sites around Sydney and the surrounding cities. After we got home I needed a vacation from vacation, I was beat! Everyone asks how little Eth did on the plane, so for your info...a 3 month old can do very well on a 14 hour flight. He didn't make a peep. It was a sad day to leave, but we're looking forward for a return visit someday.
Let's start blogging

Okay, so I'm a little behind in the times since I've had a baby, but I'm trying to catch up. Most of my friends have their own little blogs so they can keep their families updated with their latest news and pictures. Now I'm going to give this blog thing a whirl and see what happens. You can check out all the stuff we've been up to and see all the new pictures of little Ethey!
