A Little YW Help

Ok so here is the beginning of me racking all of your brains for good ideas. I know you all have great ideas so please please send them my way. Basiclly here is what I need 2 things:
1. I'm giving a little 15-20 minute motivational spotlight for Personal Progress on the 3rd Wednesday this month. Basically they haven't had anyone in there keeping track of what was going on with PP and the girls haven't really had anyone getting them excited to do it. So my purpose on Wednesday is to let them know that we are getting refocused and starting the school year off with getting into PP. I need to get them excited and motivated but also get them to catch the vision of what PP is all about and why it's important. Plus if you have any ideas on some cute handouts to go along with the presentation...send those ideas my way too.
2. I'm in charge of the activity every 5th Wednesday which comes to about once a quarter. This month is Knowledge and I think we're going to focus on accomplishing something within that value. Some of the things "experiences" they can do is
-learn to conduct 2 of their favorite hymns and do it in class, FHE, church, or seminary
-look a gospel topic that interests them and write a 5 minute talk and give it in church, class, or FHE
-look for talents they possess and talents they would like to achieve and learn to do one of those talents
-learn a home arts skill
-find out about a career that interests them and then find someone that does that specific career and talk to them about what they do, schooling, service to society, etc.
-anything else that has to do with learning something new and implementing it in their life

So that's the kind of things that they're geared up for so what kind of fun and fufilling acitivity would be a good idea to do for about hour or 1 1/2 hours. Send me some really really good ideas, no pressure.

On Sunday when they called your name, I thought, "Wow, she'll be so good at that calling!" And no, I don't have any great ideas. (Which is why I'm glad it's you and not me in YW! jk!) Good luck and have fun!

K, I'm totally the wet blanket -- but we had specific advice to NOT have activities where girls would pass-off goals. I think it's great to have activities that kind of center around a goal, but then they'd have to do a bit of work on their own to finish it off.
We had career night, we learned how to conduct hymns... etc, but we'd make them do a little work on their own. You'll be fine. Read over the leaders guidelines, it'll help a lot. Something that I thought helped was taking one of the older girls, hving your "interview" with them and then showing the girls everything the girl had passed-off with just the interview, and by using things she was already doing, or planning on doing.

Okay, so you don't know me, but Molly's sister, Amanda, is my sister in law. I was just released from YW a few months ago in my ward in NC and we had a great gear up activity for PP at the beginning of the year. It was probably longer than what you are looking for, but we basically had a night of "P's". We asked the girls to come dressed in as many P things as they could...ie- pink, polka dot pajamas with pink pearls and pigtails. We had a contest for who had the most P things and handed out P awards. (We had a fashion show where the girls showed off their P things.) We then popped popcorn and talked about the purpose of personal progress. You could easily end it here. We actually then we on to do more P things, such as read the paper bag princess book and then make modest dresses using paper bags. It was a big success in our ward. Just a suggestion if you can't think of anything else!
