Paris Day 1: Arc de Triomphe

We woke up around 4 am so we could take a taxi over to the train station and took the Chunnel over to Paris.  I don't even know how long the ride was since I totally slept the whole way there.  Jet lag and waking up early super early just put me over the edge.  We got into Paris around 8 or 9 am and took a taxi over to our hotel, dropped our bags with the concierge and went off to site see.  We decided that we would do everything on foot that day so we got out our map and figured out all the places we wanted to see.  Our hotel was near the Arc de Triomphe so we walked over there first.
Paris has this great pass that you can get for 2, 4, or 6 days and it basically lets you get into just about every museum or tourist attraction (except the Eiffel Tower) for the cost of the pass so we picked up a 2 day pass for each of us when we got to the Arc. There were a bunch of stairs that we had to climb to get to the top and when we got there the view was beautiful!  This pictures is overlooking the Champs-Elysee where all the great shopping and specialty stores are at. As you can tell there was a little bit of fog that the sun was trying to burn off. It was a beautiful day in Paris that day. It was sunny and about 75 degrees with a hint of crisp in the air. Perfection!

This is just looking up side the arc.  The detail is gorgeous.  After the Arc we made our way over to the Eiffel Tower.  We decided not to go at night since we were so close and we were anticipating our exhaustion to be quite bad by the time it got dark so we did a day time stroll.

Dear Brittany,

I loved seeing that Ryan spent his mission in Harrogate. My brother and his wife have lived there twice when they were transferred there with their US gov't jobs.

I think we may have been in Paris at the same time. Craig and I were there in Late October. Your Mom will fill you in. Tell her I will call her before Christmas.

I am so glad you and Ryan got a little 2nd honeymoon. Every couple needs special memories of just the two of them. Have a happy Christmas.

Becky Butcher P.S. (I really only look at my friends kids blogs only about once every 3 months--I love to see how everyone is growing. You guys are growing so well! Keep up the good work.) Love you--Becky
