I have to interrupt all the vacationing posts so I can post about my recent couponing success story. Yesterday, for one day only, our Kroger was doubling all coupons up to a dollar. That means a $1 coupon became a $2 coupon! Yes, it happened to fall on my brother's wedding day. Yes, I still went couponing. Yes, I have an addiction to couponing. I know, I know. Anyway...I was up at in Kroger's parking lot by 6am with all the other crazy coupon ladies. I had my coupons all organized, I planned out the whole trip, and I was off to the races. Sorry, I don't have any pictures of what I got since we were in a rush, but I do have a picture with my ginormous receipt! It's almost as tall as I am! Are you ready for the results? My total before coupons was $283.08. I saved $51.43 with my Kroger card, 91.48 in manufacturer coupons, and then 68.11 in bonus coupons (the doubled coupons). My grand total out of pocket was 72.06 and my total savings was $211.02! That is a savings of 74%!!!! I was in coupon heaven! I thought it was so funny to be there so stinkin' early in the morning with all these ladies running through the store with their binders and envelopes in hand. It also cracked me up to see some ladies eyeing what other people had in their carts and then rummaging through their coupons to see if they had missed something. You have to know the coupon culture to appreciate the humor. Anyway, very productive couponing day to say the least. Oh and as a side note. I checked my CVS receipt the other day and it tells you everything you've spent and saved for the year and my eyes nearly bulged out of my head when I saw the numbers. I have spent $120.16 since I started couponing at CVS and I have saved $1286.93 and I only started doing this in March!!! I'm getting to the point now that I don't even shop anymore since I have just about everything that I need and then some so I only get something if it's free and sometimes I even pass those up since I just don't have a place for it. I seriously don't think my family will run out of toothpaste or deodorant for at least 3 years. I'm not even kidding.
