Spitting Frogs at the Arboretum

Aunt Suzy watched Toni's kids while they were in Peru and since we're right around the corner, she invited us to go with them to the Arboretum. It's absolutely beautiful there with all the flowers and trees and cute cottages to look at! The best part of all was the fountain area with these huge bronze frogs that spit water out and the kids could play in it. We had 4 boys under the age of 4 there and I'm definitely starting to show now so people were giving me some really weird looks. Suzy even had a lady come up to her and ask her if all these kids were mine and when I was due! Haha! I'm sure people thought I was some kind of baby factory or something. Anyway...E totally loved the whole arboretum. He loved playing in the water, going on walks, eating snacks, playing in the cottages, looking at squirrels, playing in more water...every child's dream. A fun day isn't complete without a McDonald's cheeseburger so we took them through the drive through to eat. All of the kids fell asleep on the car ride home, except E of course. Too much fun for him, but he did take a nap when we got home.

As I was watching Ethan play, I just couldn't believe how big he's gotten! He's a little boy now and not my little baby anymore! He especially surprised me when I started looking at the pictures from that day, he totally cheesed it up for the camera. Each day I'm finding that I have a few moments where I'm totally cherishing the one-on-one time with him. I'm taking in the time that I only have 1 because I know this time is fleeting and I will never have as much time to spend with him like I do now. It makes me kind of sad, but part of me knows that he needs to grow up and learn that brothers and sisters add so much to our lives and that we can't always have Mom's undivided attention all the time. I just love that E is my little buddy and we do everything together (partially because he's 2 and has to do everything with me anyway), but I mean he's like my little partner in crime. We're always out trying to find something fun to experience. It's really hard to have a husband that travels a lot or is busy with church callings, but I always have my little buddy to do things with. Now sometimes that is a "double-edged sword" since my little buddy can be quite draining sometimes, but for the most part he keeps me great company and always is good for a laugh. I just love my little E and hope that having 2 little buddies will be twice as fun!

Thanks for coming with us. It was a joy to spend the day with you, Kendall and 4 cute boys.

I loved watching Ethan and Jack enjoying the water.

I cried like a baby when I left C at my SIL's to have Spencer. However, we probably had more quality 1 on 1 time when S came because I was SO focused on making sure we had it.
Can't believe how big he's getting either!

Kids grow up sooo quickly! You'll be surprised how big Ethan seems when your new little guy is born. I always wanted my boys closer in age before they were born, but mow that I look back, I so enjoythe time I got with Parker before Trev was born. They are such good buddies too - six years doesn't keep them from playing together and being friends. Parker is such a great help and he abolutely LOVES Trevor! Ethan's such a good helper already . . . I'm sure he'll easily take on the role as "big brother."

I know what you mean about feeling a little sad to lose that one-on-one time. I've kind of been feeling like that with Adam... (funny, cause it's not like there's really one-on-one there anyway!) You'll probably find you have more one-on-one interaction with E after the baby than you think. He will love having a baby brother, and it will be so fun for you to have two little buddies!
