A Week of Weather Extremes

Texas weather is certainly unpredictable and we've gotten a couple bouts of crazy weather lately. Back on the 13th we got a crazy snowstorm that tore through the area. In the end we ended up getting about 7 inches of snow and all the schools were dismissed early and traffic was crazy. It is a pretty rare thing to get a large accumulation of snow here so this was all over the news all evening long.
This is a view from our front door. And this is a view of our backyard and my poor garden. My Rosemary and Parsley stayed strong and stuck it through the snow. E and I went out and played in it after his nap and he helped me make a huge snowman. We came in and had "chocolate soup" aka hot chocolate and enjoyed being cozy in our nice, warm house.

Well, just this past week we've been enjoying 70-90 degree weather! We go from 7 inches of snow to 90 degrees! What in the world! On Saturday, E and I headed out to the "tool store" (Lowe's) to pick up all the gardening items that I needed to plant my garden. This year I dug out 1 of my Rosemary plants and 1 of my Parsley plants since they are both huge and taking up way too much room. We got 2 strawberry plants, 2 Roma tomato plants, 2 basil plants, and then a package of cucumber seeds and green onion seeds. So I planted all that on Saturday so we'll see how my garden goes this year. I still want to get a couple of Cilantro plants since I used that a ton last year.

Now today we're expecting 3+ inches of rain and tornado watches throughout the day and for tonight. Gotta love Texas!

I'm totally jelous, it against our Home Owners Association to have any kind of garden on our property--what I'd give for a cute herb garden like yours!

Yay for gardens! Yours looks so good. I know what you mean about the rosemary taking over. Last year we put some that were about 1" tall in our front bush beds, and now they're huge!
