Well, this afternoon I was half way through my cleaning and I needed to put E down for his nap time. So I was in there reading him stories and doing the usual nap time stuff, and then Ry showed up. He was home to pack his bags to go out of town, but he wanted to see E before he left. So I let him take over where I left off and I was off to mop my floors. Of course, E didn't want to go to sleep once he saw his dad, but Ry had to go pack his bags and get ready to go. So I went back in there and finished up our usual routine and by the time I was done and out of the room, he was still rustling around in there. He eventually fell asleep, but after about 1 hour he woke up crying so I went in there to see if I could settle him back down. and this is what I found (see the above pictures). E had smothered his face in Desitin and not just the regular kind...the super thick overnight kind. I don't know if he got into it before he went to bed or after he woke up, but thankfully he got it only on his face and not on his bed or the carpet. Needless to say I was shocked when I opened up the door and his little face was covered in diaper cream. It was just one of those moments that you just have to laugh and get the camera. The minute I put him in front of the mirror and he actually saw what he had done, he cried even more and just kept saying "Sorry Momma, Sorry Momma." I think he understood what he did was not good so I didn't have to do much punishing.

Jack did that once at that age. He and his friend rubbed A&D (same stuff but clear) all over their legs, arms, shorts, shirts, and faces. It was so thick it took 3 or 4 washes with lots of soap just to get off their skin. Their clothes were ruined even after several washings with stain remover. It's good you can laugh, because there's more of it coming up! Here are some others we've encountered: carving into the wooden furniture with a bread knife after seeing log-sawing on TV; spilling an entire bowl of easter egg dye all over the floor; scratching the leather chair with fingernails (or anything really); and of course, writing on the walls (or couch) several times. You're lucky there's just Ethan right now. I think it multiplies with more boys!
Oh, I hope he didn't get it in his eyes. He looks like Santa.
That is hilarious. I can't stop laughing at his poor little face...he's so sad! What a sweetie...you should get a nanny cam for his room...ha ha ha...
Conner totally did that once. He said "mamma, I washa my face" over and over.
And I said Conner, youa in trouble, over and over. It was a few days later when he popped open all the cans of formula I had saved in his room. Needless to stay it started a mile of trouble. :)
Good luck.
Oh yeah, and did I mention he cut our curtains?
{sigh}

well- he should have a nice, soft, rash free face for a while...
That is hilarious! I hope it wasn't too difficult to get off.
It's so funny what kids decide to do! At least he didn't try to eat the stuff...
That is hysterical!! I thought maybe you were going to say Ryan was helping he learn to shave. :)
That kid is something else Brit! Sounds like you might have to take everything out of his room except for his bed!!!
lol, thanks for the much needed laugh
OMG. These are great pictures. Fortunately he didn't eat it! Madelyn has learned to climb out of her crib now...after reading this post I immediately walked into her bedroom and removed the desitin. Thanks for taking the hit on this one and letting the rest of us learn from it.
Brittany, you need to teach him which cheeks Destin is for!!!!
Ha ha! What a silly boy! Its amazing how fast they can get into things.
that little booger! But oh how cute!
