Sunday Lesson

I'm teaching Relief Society on Sunday and it's about the talk that Elder Stone gave at this past April conference. The talk is "Zion in the Midst of Babylon". I'd love for all of you to read it and email me your ideas, impressions, comments, etc. I'm interested on your thoughts on what kinds of things are "Babylon" in our lives? What effect does our American culture have on our lives (good or bad)? How do we create our own "Zion in the midst of Babylon?" I'd love to hear from you!

Huh... not sure I've read that one yet. I'll have to read through it... remind me if you still want some insight... or I can just come-up with a bombshell on sunday. :)

The first thing that came to my mind was how amazing it is that the Holy Ghost tells us when we are entering a place or situation that is not safe for us, spiritually. As long as we keep ourselves tuned to those promptings, we will know when we are being lead into "Babylon" and will feel out of place or uncomfortable. Our hearts and spirits will feel something is not right and hopefully will keep us from participating...

Pres. Elmer's favorite line that he has used many times from the talk is the part about "only attached to the world in a few places" when he discusses the Manhatten temple. It really made the point with our missionaries.
