Eth eating sweet potatoes (we have to feed him in his diaper since he likes to get it everywhere)

This is the little guy and his first time eating rice cereal. You can see that he wants to do it himself
Little Ethan got the go ahead from the pediatrician to start some solids so he can practice eating and be social with us during meal times. I started him last week on some rice cereal which he loves! Whenever I'm feeding him he slaps his legs and grunts when he wants more, it's so funny. This week we're doing sweet potatoes, another favorite. So I have a confession to make...I got this crazy idea to try to make my own baby food, just to experiment. I went to Safeway and got some sweet potatoes, apples, and pears to whip up for the little guy. I cooked up the fruits and veggies and pureed them in my little cuisinart and popped them into ice cube trays to freeze. Now I have a freezer full of baby food and the funny thing is...I really liked doing it. I'm not trying to be all "granola breath/organic" (no offense to the granola people) or even to be super healthy. I just get some kind of happiness in my kitchen making baby food. I have no idea why I got the crazy idea. You'd think a girl like me would like the convenience of opening a jar, go figure. I know I'm crazy, but Ry's just glad it makes me happy. I'll post some pictures later of Ethan and his food.

Go Brit! I am all about opening the jar, lol. It always sounded fun to me, but I just never got motivated to do it :)
I'm a jar gal... unless I can convince myself it's cheaper to do it the other way (ie, banannas).
You, are a rockstar. :)
I remembered you mentioning when Jacob was born that you had made Ethan's baby food so I came to your blog thinking I'd find something about it. :) And here it is. We've been doing the rice for a couple weeks and he likes that so I'm going to cook some carrots tonight and get them frozen. Well, after I puree them anyways. I guess I just needed to know that someone I know has done this, so I don't feel too crazy. :) Thanks for your inspiration!
